Spring Break has ended

I am so sad right now. Spring break has come to an end. I really enjoyed spending time with my boys and with our new puppy. Tomorrow we are suppose to get 6 inches of snow. It's not suppose to start snowing until 8 or 9 a.m. though. Figures. Was hoping for one more day at home. Aiden has gotten very clingy with me over break. Never wanted me to leave. He would sit across the top step and hold my legs if I tried to go anywhere. It broke my heart.

We did some fun things. On Thursday we went to the Children's Museum. It was fun...but there were LOTS of kids there. At one point, I thought I lost Aiden. He was crawling through the ant tunnels. There were about 500 other kids going through at the same time. All 500 kids came out...but he didn't. I didn't realize that there was another way out. For about 10 minutes my heart was pounding and I thought I lost him. I went into the main area of that room and scanned it looking for him. Finally, I went back in...trying to see in the holes. All of a sudden he came out...saying...that was so fun it there. I have never been so scared. Overall it was a fun day.

On Friday we went to the zoo to see the baby farm animals. Again, the boys had a great time. It was a beautiful day. Riley fell asleep before we left the parking lot and Aiden fell asleep shortly after. It was a peaceful ride home watching their heads leaning together the whole way home.

On Saturday the boys rode their bikes at the park and enjoyed the weather.

Today we had my sister and parents over for dinner. My dad brought some eggs to my classroom that we are going to hatch. So...we decided to have them over for dinner as well. Riley was sooo cute. While my parents were here, they were watching a show on t.v. When the show was over and they said they were leaving...he said, "Good and reached for the remote and asked if he could change the channel now." How sweet. He let them watch what they wanted without asking about his show...but when they left...he was quick to change it. After cleaning the dishes, I was sitting with Aiden. He looked down at my shirt and said, "You have a little something on you!" He tried to rub it off and couldn't get it. He then said, "I bet it's nothing. A little soap and water should get it off!" Where does my four year old come up with this??? On Saturday Riley and Aiden were eating fortune cookies. They kept asking us to read their fortunes and asked what they meant. Once Riley said, "You can't read my fortune because I swallowed it." We joked with him and said that he would be pooping the paper out later. Aiden chimed in right away and said, "You won't have to wipe then...it'll be toilet paper." Where does he come up with that?

Other news, all of Riley's tests that were done over a week ago came back negative. He doesn't have any diseases and things with his blood look good. We still need to have some labs tests done on some stool samples to see if he has a virus. They are thinking it's just taking him a long time to get over this bug that they caught. Riley and Aiden keep passing it back and forth to one another. This morning at about 2:30 or 3:00 a.m., Riley woke up throwing up again. It's getting really frusturating...I want answers and want to know why they can't shake this!!! He's missed a lot of school and I don't want him to miss any more. I want my kids to be healthy and want them to not be throwing up once a week!

I better get to bed now...will post some pictures later!

Spring break!

Aiden loves to bake. He reads cookbooks all the time and looks for things that he thinks would be fun to bake. When we go to the bookstore to get books for the boys, he often passes by the magazines and wants to look for new recipes. How funny!!! For Christmas he got a cooking set with an apron, chef hat, measuring cups, spoons, etc. in it. Pictured above are Riley and Aiden making muffins.

I have been on spring break all week. It has been a very busy week and not a break at all.

The boys and the new puppy have been keeping me very busy. The puppy has pretty much been going to the bathroom outside and hasn't had an accident in the house for a couple days. We are on top of him and bringing him out a lot. We are also learning the signs of when he has to go out. I never thought that he was going to be as much work as he has been. It's like having a little baby in the house again.

On to the boys. On Thursday, Riley got the stomach flu again. He hasn't really been over it since they first got it in February. On Friday morning he woke up throwing up and having to be in the bathroom. I was on my way to school and ended up turning around to bring him to see his pedetrician. They took some blood and are doing a bunch of different tests on him. We suppose to be collecting some samples...but are having a hard time getting enough of what we need. Their pedetrician thinks that they may be kids that may just take longer to get over having the flu. She said that some kids get really sick and throw up a lot in a 24 hour period and some get sick and may be for a couple days. Ours get sick in the morning and are fine and then a week later, they get it again. This could go out for weeks. Remember last spring??? NOT FUN!!! Aiden woke up on Saturday throwing up. He has also been in the bathroom a lot. It seems like one gets it...gets over it and then the other one gets it again. Today I thought that we were going to be able to go out and run some errands. Riley said, "I thought we were just going to stay home." I said I thought we would just run out a little bit. He said, "I thought we were just going to stay home...so I could get to a toilet quick if I needed to". So, for now...I am hanging out at home with them and am running my errands when Jamma gets home. I have gone through a lot of my clothes and through the boys room...so staying home is probably a good thing. I have some pictures to share...unfortunately, the Easter Egg dying and the Easter pictures will not copy! I'll try later!

So...we finally got our puppy! Maxwell came on Monday. The boys were so excited to get him. Aiden kept saying, "Mommy...this is the first dog that you have let us have." He was soooo happy and soooo excited. He was smiling from ear to ear when Maxwell got here. Riley was also thrilled to get his puppy. He has been so helpful with him. He has proven that he is very responsible with him. He wanted to help take him for walks and wants to take him outside to go to the bathroom all the time. Yesterday, he wanted to do this all by himself. When Jamma said,"NO" he got angry and couldn't understand why he couldn't do it by himself. Last night was kind of a different story. Maxwell was crying a lot. He missed his mommy. We had him in his kennel for the night. He was crying, whining and whimpering all night. Aiden was laying next to me trying to fall asleep. He couldn't because of the noise. Finally Aiden said, "Mommy, I knew this wasn't such a good idea to get a puppy!" He wanted him to stop whimpering and barking. Aiden finally fell asleep and didn't hear him the rest of the night. Today Aiden and Riley were very helpful again. They love their new puppy! Tonight we are trying to find a quieter place for him to sleep. Every where he goes, Aiden says, "that's a bad idea. I can still hear him!" We'll see how the night goes.

Riley's Tubes

Riley got tubes this morning. He was a little bit nervous at first, but things went very well. When he woke up...he cried...was a little scared, but that was to be expected. He was very groggy on the way home and laid on the couch when we got home. Now he and his brother are playing games on their Nintendo. He is acting like normal. When my sister whispered something to him...he could actually hear it! Yeah!!!

Riley is getting tubes

Tomorrow is the day that we have waited for, for a long time. Since October, Riley has been getting ear infections really bad. He would lay on the floor crying...saying his ear hurt. We'd take him in, get a prescription for him for 2 weeks, be done with the medication, go two days and then have it all happen again. He seriously has not been off an antibiodic since October. Finally we were told that he could get tubes. The first surgery was scheduled for the last week in February, but the day of the pre-op, we found out that he had a fever and we had to cancel the appointment. That was the beginning of his stomach flu, which lasted until last Thursday. Today we had his pre-op again! He had some tummy problems yesterday and we were worried that his surgery would be cancelled, but today they said that we were going to do it. Tomorrow morning at 10:10, Riley will be getting tubes in his ears. He is so excited that he won't have to say, "What", anymore. He is also excited that he hopefully won't have any more ear infections. Today is said he was really excited for it to be April. When I asked why, he said, "Because I'll have tubes in my ears and I will be feeling good!" I hope this works for him! I am nervous to see how he will react to coming out of the anesethia. I have heard that that is the worst part of getting tubes! We can't wait for Riley to be better! :)

Aiden's cute sayings

Aiden has been cracking us up lately with the cute things that he has been saying. At the age of 4, he uses big words, in the right context.

On Sunday I was scratching his back. He was sitting up, enjoying it. After about 5 minutes of doing this, I asked how it felt. He said, "Good. But do you know what would feel much better? Actually, a massage with my back massager would even make me feel better!" He went and got his electric back massager and laid on the couch next to me as I massaged his back.

Tonight he was complaining that his head hurt really bad. I don't know if it was a stall tactic that he has to get out of going to bed. I was told him that I would get him Tylenol in a bit. I started doing some things and told him that I was going to get ready for bed. He asked, "Aren't you forgetting something? What about my head and that Tylenol that you were suppose to get me?" I went and got him some and then told him I was going to get ready for bed. He was hopping around in the bathroom...jumping...playing around. He sat down on the toilet. I asked about his headache. His response was, "Mommy, can't you see that I am doing something? I am trying to go potty and don't have time for those questions!" Wow...sorry to be a bother! :)

Riley and Aiden

Just wanted to update you on some things that have been going on with the boys. Last week on Monday we noticed that Riley was developing a cough. We were worried about this because he was suppose to have tubes put in on Thursday to help with his ear infections. On Tuesday, Aiden got the stomach flu and was throwing up at night. This worried us because, again, we didn't want Riley getting sick. Well, on Wednesday during his pre-op exam, we found that Riley has a fever. They both were sick with sore throats and coughs. Riley's surgery was cancelled. On Thursday afternoon Riley got the stomach flu. He was throwing up...just not feeling well. On Friday he stayed home from school. Saturday seemed fine for them, but on Sunday, Aiden had the stomach flu again. He was throwing up. Riley also had the stomach flu, in the bathroom many times. On Monday and Tuesday Aiden had a really bad cough. Riley woke up each morning throwing up and having to be in the bathroom all day. Yesterday we took Riley in because he was screaming of ear pain the night before. He did not have an ear infection, which is good news, however, his ped. said he looked pale. He should stay home another day. Well, this morning we woke up to the worst it has been so far. Poor Riley. He was in the bathroom all day...throwing up and not being able to leave the bathroom. He was a little excited tonight as it seemed that he may be getting better. Aiden however is developing all the things that Riley had. He was crying tonight saying that he was cold and wanted blankets on him. He is our naked boy. He would rather run around with only his underware on. He never sleeps with blankets. I took his temp tonight and he had a low fever. I am hoping that he doesn't get as sick as Riley has been. I feel bad for both of them, but for Riley especially. He hasn't been in school since last Tuesday. He really misses his friends and wants to go back. He will be staying home for sure tomorrow and hopefully will be able to go back Friday. I am praying he gets over this so that he can have surgery next week on Thursday. Again, he will be missing school next week for his pre-op and for his surgery. Hopefully we will be able to go through with it this time and he won't be getting sick and missing so much school anymore! The hardest part was yesterday, I haven't been feeling well. But, as my child is in the bathroom crying with the stomach flu...mom instincts kick in. I had to be a mom and forget about how I was feeling. I stayed home with them all day and came home this afternoon. I was finally able to take a nap. I know how I feel when I am sick...I can't imagine how the boys are feeling...being sick this long! Poor things.

Maxwell

The boys have always wanted a puppy. All THREE of them! I have been the one that has been against it and have always said no. The day that I witnessed the car accident, I was suppose to be getting some fish for the boys. I didn't get them. A week later, we took the boys to the pet store to finally get their fish. While there, the people at Pet Land asked us if we wanted to hold a puppy. Riley has been in love with Chihuahua's for a long time. We let him hold one. I have never seen the compassion in the boys eyes as they were holding this puppy. I started thinking about how I was the one who didn't want a dog, and thought after this accident, I don't want the boys to ever think that because I didn't want something...they couldn't have it either. Aiden does have dog and cat allergies, but has been fine around some. So...after discussing it...we decided that we would get the Chihuahua that the boys were holding. Well...Riley starting itching all over. He had broken out in hives because of the puppy. We put him back and left. Riley was really sad. At conferences, I was talking to a family in my class and they told me about Yorkies...they don't shed and they don't drool. I started to do a little research on them...and found that a lot of people who have dog allergies, have Yorkies with no problems. That day I found a dog breeder that has some puppies for sale. They were born on the 20th of December. We decided that we were going to get one. We are getting a little boy. The boys have been soooo excited. They have seen a picture of him. They both agreed on Maxwell as a name for the puppy. We are going to take them to see a friend's Yorkie to see if either of the boys react to him. If they don't, we should be getting him in two weeks or so. Isn't he so cute???
