Happy New Year!
Last night a whirlwind occured in our house. At around 12:30...I was taking a picture of Aiden sleeping on top of Jamma. It was so cute. He had been coughing a lot during the day and had a fever...so sleeping on the couch with daddy was what relaxed him. Well, as he was sleeping I noticed that he was breathing differently. His stomach was rapidly moving up and down, which suggested to me that he was having difficulty getting air in. I called my sister, who is a nurse and she came right over. She listened to him breathing and we called our Pedetrician after hours emergency number. We were instructed to give him 2 nebulizers back to back and watch his breathing. If it didn't improve, then we would need to bring him in. Becca started doing some counting and said that we should probably take him in because he wasn't getting better...he also had a fever. So...we called my sister Rachel to come and stay with Riley since Jamma had to work. She was on her way over when Riley started screaming in his sleep that he had an ear ache. We debated on whether or not we should bring him with us, but gave him Motrin and decided that he would go to the Minute Clinic in the morning. The ENT had given us a prescription in case he started complaining again...so we just needed to fill it. We wanted to make absolutly sure that it was in fact in ear infection before starting a new medication. So, Rachel still came over and watched Riley.
We got to Children's Hospital around 2:00 or so. It took forever there! Aiden was checked in and taken to a room. After listening to him, they ordered 3 rounds of nebulizer treatments and an oral steriod to help open his air ways. They also did a chest x-ray. He was WOUND up...wide awake and seemed fine. At about 6:30 a.m. or so...he crashed. When they checked his oxygen levels....they were down...at 88%. They put an oxygen mask on him and went to talk to the doctors. Finally, they came in and turned on the lights and told us we needed to wake Aiden up! What the heck???? While awake, his oxygen levels went back up. He was crying a lot...and it was pretty scary for me to see his heart rate go up to 186 beats per minute. Becca reassured me that this was fine and because of all the steriods and because of his crying. Everything seemed to help a little bit. He was given an antiboidic for the swelling in his lungs. They said although they didn't see pnenumonia, they were going to treat him for the early signs of it. They also gave him an oral steriod to help open the airways and help him breath better. We have to still do nebulizer treatments with him! At about 8:15 or so Aiden was discharged. He fell asleep in the car on the way home, but didn't sleep much at home. He is pretty crabby right now which is understandable.
Jamma took Riley in this morning to Minute Clinic and he indeed does have an ear infection in his left ear and the beginning of one in his right ear! So...he is once again back on an antibiodic. He officially went without medicine for 2 days before it starting again. Tomorrow we will call our pedetrician and have both of them looked at and hopefully will figure out where to go from here!
Hopefully 2008 will bring us better health! It seems like it has been one thing after another with the boys! Thanks so much Rachel and Rebecca for all your help last night and this morning! I don't know what we would have done without you!

Christmas Eve
So...this is how we have been laying for the past 1/2 hour. We have been watching the Norad Tracks Santa website tonight and are so excited to see Santa almost in the United States. We told the boys that when Santa gets to the United States they need to get to sleep so that Santa will stop at our house.
The boys are watching Santa's flight as they arrive in the United States.
This year our family tradition has been broken. Usually we go to my parents house for Christmas Eve. We have dinner, open presents and then go to church. Today Riley and Aiden both woke up with the stomach flu. Riley has it much worse then Aiden. So...we made the tough decision to stay home tonight. We let the boys open a few presents this afternoon. They got legos and played for hours with them. Tonight they opened their traditional matching pajamas that we give them every year for Christmas Eve. The rest of the evening was spent checking Santa's flight and watching movies. I am really sad that we missed our traditional Christmas Eve, but it was a nice night spent with the boys.

Yeah! Snow!!!

This morning when we told the boys to look at the window they got so excited and started to scream when they noticed all the snow. They asked late this afternoon if they could go out and play in it for a little bit. After bundling them up...they had sooo much fun in the snow. They came right in to look at their rosy cheeks in the mirror! We love the snow...it's beginning to look more like Christmas.
